FarmAt Crowtree House Farm, our exclusive home farm, we specialise in breeding and rearing Dexter cattle (For more information about the Dexter breed of cattle, please look at the new website of the Dexter Cattle Society.) and rearing native British breeds, e.g. Aberdeen Angus, Hereford, Lincoln Red and English Shorthorn. These British breeds, traditionally grass fed on England’s finest marsh grassland produce the best of beef, renowned for its moist marbled texture, taste and tenderness. Crowtree House farm nestles on Spalding Marsh at sea level on the East bank of the River Welland. This marsh land formed during the middle ages undoubtedly has some of the best soil for growing crop, vegetable or grass in the UK. Drainage developed by the Dutch in the 18th century established the area as having the best in nutritious soil in England. Our raison d’etre is to produce a quality natural product from traditional British shorthorn breeds renowned for their tasty marbled meat.

Quality, whether it be; Angus steak, Hereford steak, Dexter steak, Lincoln Red steak or Shorthorn steak, just like venison or game, beef matures and improves in taste, texture and tenderness if well hung. All our beef carcasses are hung in our cold store for 2 to 4 weeks to enable the beef to gently mature before being butchered, dressed and jointed for your plate, our farm shop or our award winning restaurant.
